EV World Congress 2022

CLM had the privilege of attending the EV World Congress held in London in October 2022, with the aim to inspire, educate and connect those within the industry.

The EV sector is exploding, with an estimated 16 million EVs now on the road globally -but the challenge of deploying infrastructure for those vehicles, and more importantly, providing the roughly 30 terawatthours (TWh) of electricity per year to charge them are major challenges to be addressed.

The EV Congress included 120 leading organisations and technology/service providers who shared best practice case studies and discussions. With over 400 attendees and 100 speakers, the event enabled Fleet owners, Local Authorities, Car park owners, Property Developers, Transport Authorities and Institutional Investors to mix with industry leaders and ask the really important questions which impact their own business priorities.

4-Day Week Success at CLM!

We are delighted to announce that the 4-day working week trial at Connections Legal Management has been a huge success improving productivity and job satisfaction.

The trial began on 1st June where the team were given the opportunity to move from 35 hours over 5 days to 32 hours across 4 days for the same salary.

Laura Wilson, director, said: ‘We truly believe the 4-day week is the future of working life and it is encouraging to now see the range of businesses across the UK embracing the four-day week trials.

‘We pride ourselves on being an innovative business and a progressive employer, and our experience in planning for and moving to a 4-day week has shown that it is possible for businesses to do this and bring huge benefits to their team and clients.’

Recruiting and retaining staff has never been difficult at CLM however the 4-Day week offering has certainly attracted some outstanding talent to CLM, and there has been no negative impact on our client service delivery. The team have been even more motivated in managing workloads to accommodate the new working pattern.

Our team have reported that the trial has been a significant game changer in shaping a more positive work/home lifestyle and have spent their rest days volunteering, exercising, and some simply enjoyed having more time with their children or pets.

We are so pleased to have been able to offer such a progressive offering to our team. Joe Ryle, director of the 4 Day Week Campaign, said: ‘Companies should embrace the 4-day week as a way of boosting productivity, improving wellbeing and to help with job retention’, and we couldn’t agree more!

CLM Turns 8

2022 has brought much to celebrate at CLM and turning 8 this month has been another wonderful milestone. CLM has grown by a third since 2020 and this year alone, we have already welcomed 4 new members to the team with another new starter joining us in October.

The last 12 months has seen director, Laura Wilson awarded ‘Businessperson of the Year’ at the Mercury Business Awards, as well as CLM being named finalists as ‘Team of the Year’ and ‘Business Innovation’ at this year’s upcoming awards. We are delighted that CLM’s expertise has been recognised, with director Laura Wilson being asked to advise on the Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS)’s land rights review, as well as her role on the SSE expert panel.

The team, made up of project, CAD, administrative and marketing departments, are proud to have worked on some of the most prestigious and valuable sites in the UK including Northampton Gateway and Brentford Football Club’s training ground as well as some of the largest commercial, industrial and new residential developments in the UK.

It is no wonder that CLM is such a desirable place to work. Passionate about investing in people, we have introduced an abundance of wellbeing initiatives such as: a Golden Ticket, meaning each team member has an extra day away from the office to celebrate their birthday in style, a fully subsidised gym membership and the option to enjoy the 4-Day week initiative.

Enjoying a pizza and movie night in the Bull & Swan’s herb garden to mark our special day, has also been a great opportunity for the team to catch up with each other away from the office!
