Discount food retailer Aldi was planning to improve its offering in the Derbyshire village of Hilton by relocating to a new site. We were tasked with managing the electrical connection agreements to enable the move to happen.
Our brief
A new Aldi supermarket was being developed in the Derbyshire village of Hilton. The area earmarked for the store would have an on-site substation and our Client asked for our help to secure the required DNO/IDNO lease, along with several other titles being purchased by the landowner, which concerned the electrical substation and cable easements.
Challenges
Several amendments were needed for the substation lease, all of which required discussion amongst all four involved parties before they could be agreed. This had the potential to incur delays, posing a risk to the planned energisation date for the site.
Delivery
Collaboration was key to this project. After identifying the four interested parties: the landowner’s solicitor; the network solicitor; the ICP; and the network, we established relationships early on. By proactively engaging all associates we were able to accelerate response times and achieved the required document signatures to enable energisation.
