Director’s Statement 2024

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT 2024

As we wave goodbye to 2023 and welcome a new year, it seems the perfect time to recap on CLM’s activities over yet another transformative year and introduce ourselves to those who don’t yet know us!

2023

Last year saw huge growth in the EV sector and the delivery of consents for charging hubs across the UK. CLM is honoured to be at the forefront of this industry and is proud to be advising so many Charge Point Operators as well as challenging the consent process within the distribution networks to ensure best practice is shared and consents are obtained in a timely and effective manner, proportionate in nature to reflect the reduction in risk associated with this infrastructure, in comparison to a residential development for example. We remain absolutely focused on playing a key role in the UK’s role out of EV charging infrastructure.

Once again, we referred to our robust and evolving business strategy and concentrated on business capability, delivering continuous improvement, and creating sustainable success. This clear and collective vision has continued to ensure we are all working with the same shared objectives in mind and achieving outstanding results for our clients.

Our team have achieved so much in 2023. It has been a ground-breaking year in many aspects for CLM, not only our record completion total, turnaround time, number of new clients and collaborations in new industry sectors; but we have adapted and grown immeasurably in terms of mindset, experience, and sector specialism.

We are incredibly proud of our notable completions including:

  • Securing Land Rights for the UK’s largest public EV charging hub at the NEC in Birmingham
  • Securing a low compensation deal for a new data centre in Central London
  • Land Rights for a high power 30 bay charging hub in Gatwick
  • Securing Land Rights for SERGO’s new 5 million sq ft logistics park in Northampton

Based in Ketton, we have expanded our much-loved premises ensuring consistency for the team and clients who to visit us throughout the year for training or team building days. Our head office is also where we carry out our extensive internal training programme.

Business growth has also been seen the on boarding of a new Lead Coordinator who comes from within the industry and brings extensive experience, several new starters, promotions across departments, and our very first post grad appointment. This scalable business model shows CLM’s commitment to the individuals who all make more than a significant difference to CLM’s success. We work continuously to recruit the very best people to join our award-winning business and it is a privilege to watch their professional growth, highlights, and successes. We respect and value each of them.

Our ever-evolving Wellbeing Pillars now include the 4-day working week, private health care, fully subsidised gym membership and the CLM Golden Ticket, so no one has to work on their birthday! The team have been enjoying our Wellbeing Workshops which cover everything from wellbeing at work to diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace. Working with teams from MHFA and Aviva we aim to provide the most effective training possible. As we enter a new year, we have more team members signed up for MHFA training as well as first aid refresher training.

2024

It’s the big one!!! This year marks our 10th year in business.

As we embark on a fresh new year with exciting projects to greet us, we look forward to working closely with all stakeholders. We are fortunate enough to work with clients who are committed to providing their customers with the highest level of service. Our ethos echoes that and we work intrinsically with our clients ensuring our capabilities are directly in line with their customer service standards. We are accountable throughout the process and ensure our process works in parallel to our client’s internal processes to achieve a ‘one team’ approach for the end client. This service is the very foundation of CLM and something we started with our very first clients, Matrix Networks and UK Power Solutions. We continue our company promise of reducing project risk from unknown third parties, acting with integrity and providing a professional approach, ensuring clients are aware of risks as well as providing cost certainty.

Over the past year CLM demonstrated over and over again our strengths as an organisation and made clear that when it comes to Land Rights, we really do deliver the difference. The work we are doing is more relevant than ever today and we offer an external Land Rights service which can support clients with both their IDNO network requirements, as well as the DNO element too.  The service we provide is an integral part of simplifying Land Rights. Our customers rely on our integrity to keep them informed and connected. 2024 is set to be another exciting year for CLM. Through collaboration with long term clients, we look forward to working on our variety of projects delivering the best service and outstanding customer experience.

How might CLM help you in 2024?

This year we will define and introduce our 5 key business areas, which are also supported by our sister company, Wilson Consultancy Strategic Solutions.

Over the coming months we will be introducing each of these areas to clients and showcasing how we can support our industry better, more inclusively across a whole project or portfolio to give the best advice and service; something we’re already really proud of!

For now, though, we wish all of our clients and networks a very prosperous new year from us all at CLM.
